Video: Unionist politicians brand IRA tribute to Tony Catney as…

18 August 2014 The video emerged on Saturday of masked men dressed in military-style clothing and balaclavas firing a volley of shots in tribute to convicted murderer Tony Catney. It shows three men armed with Ak47 rifles in front of a photograph of the ex-prisoner, a tricolour and a floral “IRA” tribute to mark his death. The DUP’s William Humphrey, MLA for North Belfast, branded the salute as “evil”, saying it was clearly an attempt by dissidents to “assert their authority”. UUP MLA Roy Beggs also condemned the gun men’s actions, saying they were glorifying terrorism.
