Beggs urges uptake of ‘Think U Know’ child sexting advice campaign

Ulster Unionist Assembly Member for East Antrim, Roy Beggs MLA, has urged the uptake of child ‘sexting’ advice campaign from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command, a branch of National Crime Agency (NCA). Mr Beggs, said: “I would urge all teachers, parents and young people to check out the ‘Think U Know’ child sexting advice which has been recently launched. With the recent tragedy of a young person being drawn in and then blackmailed by international criminals, this is an aspect of the internet that we all should be aware of.  The campaign is a welcome development in the ever-changing and constantly challenging area of online protection for children. Beggs Secures Resurfacing Works in Victoria

Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman Roy Beggs MLA has successfully lobbied Transport NI to get resurfacing work on the Larne Road secured for this summer.  The East Antrim politician had been contacted by a number of local residents who complained about sleep and general noise disturbance from the patchwork nature of the tarmac, due to numerous excavation and repair by utility companies providing water and gas connections. Mr Beggs said “I welcome the assurance provided to me by Transport NI that the section of road from Victoria Road to Trailcock Road will be resurfaced over the summer. The busy section of the A2 road carries is a route for many early morning HGV servicing local industry.  Local residents have been complaining about the road noise levels of vehicles travelling over the road repairs.  In particularly the noise from empty HGV’s over the numerous repairs have been disturbing residents sleep patterns”. Beggs Supports Child Safety on Farms Week

UUP MLA for East Antrim, Mr Roy Beggs, has highlighted HSENI ‘Child Safety on Farms Week’ which runs from the 22nd June to the 28th June 2015. Mr Beggs MLA explained “The scheme aims to raise awareness of the dangers posed to children on local farms.  With the school holidays just around the corner and with farms working at full capacity during this extremely busy period of the farming calendar, this is a particularly important time to get our child safety messages out to rural families.” HSENI is urging local farmers to take extra care and to put simple safety measures in place to keep children safe on the farm. HSENI has produced a child farm safety checklist which we are asking farmers to complete to focus their attention on child safety.
