Beggs Appeals for Information Following Carrickfergus Hijacking

Roy Beggs MLA has appealed for members of the public who may have seen anything suspicious in the Belfast Road area of Carrickfergus on Monday, to advise the police. “The crime gang involved in hijacking the Sprinter van in the Belfast Road area of Carrickfergus, threatened the driver with a gun and then assaulted him. The victim required hospital treatment.   Clearly this is a dangerous group of criminals and I would urge the public to assist by providing any possible relevant information to assist in identifying those involved.”

Condemnation after prominent loyalist is shot

The return of violence to the streets of Carrick has been condemned after a prominent loyalist was shot in the leg in Castlemara on Friday night. Willie Cameron, who was politically active with the Ulster Democratic Party and Ulster Political Research Group, was out walking close to the Castlemara shops around 7.30pm when he was approached by three masked males and shot in the calf. Beggs Welcomes Drugs Discovery in Whitehead

Ulster Unionist Party MLA, Roy Beggs, has welcomed news that a substantial amount of drugs has been taken out of circulation in his East Antrim constituency. Mr Beggs said “I am aware that the PSNI uncovered a cannabis factory in Whitehead last week and that an arrest took place. I understand that a suspicious white powder, potentially a Class A drug, was also seized during the search. I welcome the fact that these harmful substances have been taken out of the local community.  I would urge the public to contact the confidential Crime Stoppers helpline on 0800 555 111, if they have any further information that may help the Police with their enquiries or indeed if they have suspicions of drug dealing taking place at any other location.”

70 Cannabis Plants Seized in Carrickfergus

Roy Beggs MLA has welcomed the seizure of around 70 cannabis plants worth an estimated £40,000 from a property in the Carrick area by officers from Larne and Carrickfergus Local Policing Team. Ulster Unionist Party representative Roy Beggs MLA has welcomed the news, stating “I commend the work of the local Policing Team in making sure that these cannabis plants are taken out of circulation in the local community. Cannabis, which is a Class C drug, contributes to mental ill health and can be a gateway to even more addictive and dangerous Class A drugs.  I would urge anyone with information in relation to this case or if you have suspicion of similar drug factories, to contact Crime Stoppers confidentially on 0800 555 111.”

Beggs condemns shooting in Carrickfergus

Ulster Unionist MLA for East Antrim, Roy Beggs has condemned the actions of a gang who shot a man in the Castlemara estate in Carrickfergus on Friday evening. Roy Beggs MLA said, “This was a despicable attack which I utterly condemn.  Shooting a man in the leg is a violent crime.  It creates a victim and can result in long term scars, a disability or worse. Further demands are added to our already heavily pressed NHS Ambulance Service, Emergency Departments and the local police.
