Beggs calls for concessionary rates for over 60’s in East Antrim

Following a constituency enquiry, Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman Roy Beggs MLA has called for Mid and East Antrim Borough Council to encourage greater use of leisure facilities and to implement consistent concessionary rates for over 60’s.

Roy Beggs MLA said “I have been contacted by a number of constituents in relation to the disparity in Mid and East Antrim Boroughs leisure services concessionary pricing for over 60’s.  I have contacted the Council to ask that they explore the option of adopting the policy of the former Larne Borough Council whereby a concessionary leisure membership was available for those over 60, during off peak times throughout the week.”

“It this was introduced, I believe that this would benefit residents of the new Council right across the Borough by increasing health, wellbeing and affordability and also help Council to manage their usage levels at facilities during peak and off peak periods.”
