Following the announcement of the loss of 42 Temporary jobs, Roy Beggs said “It is disappointing to learn of the further loss of 42 manufacturing jobs in Carrickfergus. The announcement of job losses as we approach the Christmas period, will be devastating to the workers and families concerned.”
“Last week we had the announcement of the loss of 860 jobs at Michelin. I am aware that many Michelin workers live in Carrickfergus, Larne and Newtownabbey. Manufacturing jobs are vital to any economy. This further loss of manufacturing jobs, must give us all concern. The Northern Ireland Executive must be meeting the needs of local industry so that vital jobs can be maintained and employees can support their families.”
