EAST Antrim MLA Roy Beggs has welcomed the installation of additional drainage gratings to help tackle the problem of flooding on a local school bus route.

The Ulster Unionist representative highlighted to Roads Service the flooding danger on the Browndod Road, Larne, and called for measures to be taken to reduce the level of surface water in the area.

He said: “The flooding on this busy stretch of road below Billy Andy’s Restaurant was becoming progressively more dangerous and the Road Service had provided temporary flood warning signs.

“I am pleased that additional gratings have now been installed and that the flood warning signs which had be permanently located can be removed.

“The flooding had been at a dangerous location on the busy rural bus route. I am pleased that this additional accident risk has now being removed.”
