Beggs Supports Child Safety on Farms Week

UUP MLA for East Antrim, Mr Roy Beggs, has highlighted HSENI ‘Child Safety on Farms Week’ which runs from the 22nd June to the 28th June 2015.

Mr Beggs MLA explained “The scheme aims to raise awareness of the dangers posed to children on local farms.  With the school holidays just around the corner and with farms working at full capacity during this extremely busy period of the farming calendar, this is a particularly important time to get our child safety messages out to rural families.”

HSENI is urging local farmers to take extra care and to put simple safety measures in place to keep children safe on the farm. HSENI has produced a child farm safety checklist which we are asking farmers to complete to focus their attention on child safety.

Roy Beggs continued; “I would remind local farmers to focus on child safety and to complete the child farm safety checklist.  I would also urge you to engage with the HSENI by sharing your child farm safety messages on social media with the hashtag #AvoidHarmOnTheFarm.”
