Roy Beggs MLA has spoken of his disappointment that the Public Health Agencies Smokers Helpline will cease to be operational on the 31st December 2014.

The Ulster Unionist MLA said “It is disappointing news that the Smokers Helpline service (0808 812 8008) will cease on the 31st December 2014, however it is important to note that is still available for information, advice and support on stopping smoking.  I would urge those who are thinking of making ‘quitting smoking’ their New Year’s resolution, to check out the website.”

A PHA representative added “In recent times, despite many smokers availing of specialist stop smoking services, the number of people contacting the Smokers Helpline has been minimal, hence the decision to close the service.”
