A special celebration has been held to mark the 30th anniversary Knockagh Court sheltered accommodation scheme in Greenisland.
The milestone anniversary event at the Choice Housing unit was attended by staff, residents, the Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough, Councillor Audrey Wales, MBE and East Antrim MLA Roy Beggs.
Knockagh Court was opened in March 1986 and is currently home to 32 residents who enjoy independent living within a safe and supported environment.
Special recognition was given to both Ann Montgomery who has lived in Knockagh Court since January 2012 and Kate McManus, who has lived there since February 2004.
Michael McDonnell spoke at the celebratory event and said: “It is fantastic to be able to celebrate 30 happy years at Knockagh Court with the mayor and our residents.
“For our residents, the scheme is more than just their home, it is a vital part of the community, enabling older people to live safely and independently and offering their families peace of mind.”
The independent housing association’s homes, care and support services help to meet the diverse needs of a wide range of clients including older people, families, mature singles and people with complex needs.
Residents of Knockagh Court can avail of local amenities such as Greenisland Library, Greenisland Community Centre, a number of churches and a small shopping complex at Glassillan Court.
