The Sydenham bypass has reopened following a serious crash involving a car and a motorcycle near George Best Airport.

A PSNI spokesperson, speaking earlier, said the Bangor bound carriageway had been closed after the accident and that diversions were in place at Dee Street.

A Northern Ireland Ambulance Service spokesman said it received a 999 call at 5.18pm following reports of a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a car on the Sydenham bypass.

An AE crew and a Air Ambulance crew attended the scene.

Following assessment and initial treatment, a male patient was taken by ambulance to the Royal Victoria Hospital.
