Nesbitt is ‘impressed’ in Carrick

east Antrim MLA Roy Beggs has welcomed the weekend election of Mike Nesbitt as the new UUP leader.

Mr Beggs said he has been impressed by the contribution of Mr Nesbitt both at Stormont and during a recent East Antrim consultation event.

“Mike Nesbitt MLA has already impressed many party members and members of the public through his contribution at Stormont. But, what has most impressed me is how he conducted his recent consultation into economic policy during a meeting within East Antrim,” Mr Beggs stated.

“His grasp of the economy was apparent. Mike was very skilful in engaging with the members of the public who were contributing to the event, clarifying issues, and gaining a consensus on what improvements were necessary to create opportunities for all.

“I backed Mike from the start and am pleased that so many other members of the Ulster Unionist Party also saw how he could be an effective leader of the UUP and contribute to improving Northern Ireland for the benefit of all.”
