Passing of Ulster Unionist Stalwart Sandy Hunter

Roy Beggs MLA, Ulster Unionist representative for East Antrim has spoken of his sadness at the passing of long-standing UUP member Mr Sandy (Alexander Samuel) Hunter, who was in his 94th year and well known in the local area.

Roy Beggs said “Sandy gave a lifetime of service to the local community. I would have first known Sandy through his role of Clerk of Session of my own church, Raloo Presbyterian Church where he had also served as elder for some 60 years.

He was well known within the farming community.  On top of his long hours on the family farm, he had served the local community as an Ulster Unionist Councillor and for a time as deputy Mayor of Larne.

He will be sadly missed by the many friends who knew him.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.”
