Roy Issues Safety Plea over Jet Skis

Local Ulster Unionist MLA Roy Beggs has issued a plea for Jet skiers to act responsibly at Browns’ Bay and other recreational beaches in East Antrim. He said: “It is great to see that our superb beaches have attracted so many people- locals and tourists alike in the first- and hopefully not the last- spell of fine summer weather. However I am concerned at reports that the Coast guard had to be called to Browns’ Bay at the weekend to respond to complaints about dangers to beach users caused by some jet skiers.” To ensure the safety of users Larne Borough Council has signs restricting the speed of pleasure boats and jet skis to a maximum speed of 8 knots within the positioned marker buoys at Ballygally and Browns Bay.
