Roy Beggs Jnr, Ulster Unionist Party MLA for East Antrim who lives near the Millbrook factory, has described a major jobs announcement for a Larne based pharmaceutical company Terumo BCT as ‘very exciting’: “If, as has been announced, these are 416 brand new jobs, then that is a very exciting and significant boost in employment opportunities for the people of Larne and surrounding area. The old ‘Ivex’ site at Millbrook has been a main stay of valuable employment for the local people over the years, through numerous name changes and company takeovers.” Mr Beggs added that in the context of heavy job losses at nearby FG Wilsons last year, it was essential that new jobs are delivered on the ground.
