Ulster Unionist MLA Beggs Welcomes Greenisland Carpark Upgrade

East Antrim Ulster Unionist Assemblyman Roy Beggs MLA has welcomed news that GlassillanTransport NI have commenced resurfacing work in the Glassillan and Carrickfern Gardens area of Greenisland, following previous assurances provided to the UUP MLA by Roads Service.  Mr Beggs had previously called for the much needed resurfacing work in October 2015, due to deteriorating tarmac surfacing and trip hazards in the area.

Roy Beggs MLA said, “I welcome the fact that work is currently ongoing to upgrade the Glassillan and Carrickfern roadway, footpath and carpark. The new dropped kerbing and resurfaced footpaths, together with the tarmacking of the roadway and carpark will reduce the risk of injury and enhance this important local shopping facility for the benefit of the community.

A few months ago, with the trip hazards, multiple patching and the generally deteriorating tarmac surface at the Glassillan Shopping Area in Greenisland, I had requested that Transport NI would resurface this busy area, and they agreed to prioritise the repair. I am pleased that the work is now at an advanced stage and will be completed shortly.”
