Action Cancer Revamp a Winner

Cllr Beryl McKnight and Roy Beggs MLA at Action Cancer in Carrickfergus

Local Ulster Unionist Party MLA Roy Beggs Jnr and his colleague Councillor Beryl McKnight visited the Action Cancer Shop in Carrickfergus this week. They saw at first hand the temporary taker over of the running of the shop by a group from the Henderson Group- who were taking part in an ‘Apprentice’ style business challenge.

Commenting Roy Beggs MLA said:
“This Business in the Community’s Cares Shop Challenge is not only an interesting business programme, but this experiment in particular brings attention to the work of Action Cancer. The staff from Hendersons really made an impact introducing a significant increase in stock and an eye catching ‘Downton Abbey’ shop window theme.”

The UUP MLA added:
“We shouldn’t take the work of Charity shops – such as the one for Action Cancer- for granted. We all know of people and their families who benefit from the money generated by these sort of shops.

From what we saw in the shop on Thursday, it was doing a roaring trade and every purchase made will help fund research or support for families affected by cancer.”
