Beggs attends NI Energy Forum

Speaking at the NI Energy Forum at the Titanic Centre, Roy Beggs MLA has again called on a rethink on the future Electricity Generating proposals.

Roy Beggs said, “There have been significant delays and an inability to gain Ministerial approval for the new North South Interconnector and indeed for any new generator at the present time.  This is extending the lead times for any new electricity generating provision and could lead to the interruption of future electricity supply.

There is also a risk to electricity supplies and I-SEM as a result of BREXIT if agreement is not reached before the end of March 2019.    Clearly there is a need for SONI and the Utility Regular to adapt their capacity model to minimise the risk electric blackout.“
