Beggs Welcomes £32m Ryobi investment in Carrickfergus

Ulster Unionist MLA for East Antrim, Mr Roy Beggs, has welcomed the news that Japanese-owned Ryobi Aluminium Casting is to create 100 extra jobs as part of a £32m investment in their factory at Carrickfergus.  This announcement brings the total number of employees up to 386 at the Carrickfergus plant.

Roy Beggs MLA said;

“This is fantastic news for Carrickfergus, with new jobs secured, in addition to investment in new plant and machinery.  Ryobi has been an important employer in East Antrim since it was attracted to Carrickfergus over twenty years ago.   This investment is recognition of the skills of the local workforce, the improving communications links and importance of the locally available natural gas supply which minimises energy costs.

“Ryobi has become established as a mainstay of the local economy.  I would congratulate Invest NI for their role in providing financial assistance to secure this expansion.  It secures vital manufacturing jobs in my constituency and puts well placed faith in local expertise and skills.”
