Beggs welcomes A36 Shaneshill route resurfacing scheme

Roy Beggs MLA who has been urging for a greater proportion of Roads capital funding to be used to maintain road surfaces has welcome £1/2m resurfacing scheme to upgrade the key A36 Shaneshill route which links Larne to the North West.

Roy Beggs, UUP infrastructure spokesperson said,

“I am pleased with the news that significant resurfacing of the key A36 Shaneshill Road. Government has not been investing enough in maintaining our roads networks. Without regular resurfacing, the Department of Infrastructure will be faced with repeated, costly pothole repairs and having to compensate drivers as a result of damage to their vehicle.

I would urge drivers to allow some additional travel time for diversions whilst this essential road maintenance occurs”
