Roy Hails Jobs Boost at Millbrook Factory

Roy Beggs Jnr, Ulster Unionist Party MLA for East Antrim who lives near the Millbrook factory, has described a major jobs announcement for a Larne based pharmaceutical company Terumo BCT as ‘very exciting’:

“If, as has been announced, these are 416 brand new jobs, then that is a very exciting and significant boost in employment opportunities for the people of Larne and surrounding area. The old ‘Ivex’ site at Millbrook has been a main stay of valuable employment for the local people over the years, through numerous name changes and company takeovers.”

Mr Beggs added that in the context of heavy job losses at nearby FG Wilsons last year, it was essential that new jobs are delivered on the ground.

The UUP MLA said:
“One of the recent criticisms of Invest NI and the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment is that there have been numerous announcements of ‘promoted’ jobs rather than ‘delivered’ jobs. I look forward to learning of 416 new recruits joining the company and the individuals and the wider local economy benefiting.

In the context of bad news about major job losses at FG Wilsons/Caterpillar in Larne over the past year, high quality manufacturing jobs in Larne and East Antrim are badly needed, and can provide hope for local job seekers.”
