Rates Hike warning for Larne and Carrickfergus

Ulster Unionist MLA for East Antrim Roy Beggs Jnr has warned of the potential for significant rates hikes in Larne and Carrickfergus as a result of the 11 Council proposal which will see Larne and Carrickfergus being joined to Ballymena in a new Council configuration. Mr Beggs said: “The Ulster Unionist Party supported a 15 Council model based on the 18 Parliamentary Constituencies, with one Council to cover the four Belfast Constituencies. However a 11 Council model with a new local government body for Mid and East Antrim has been pushed through at Stormont with the votes of DUP, SF and Alliance party. This paves the way for Larne and Carrickfergus to be merged with Ballymena in an artificially constructed new Council. Roy Proposes Multi – Agency Support Team for All Schools Motion

  Click to play video of Roy Beggs MLA Proposing Motion on Multi-Agency Support Teams Roy Beggs MLA has voiced his support for the work of Multiagency Support teams in providing extra health and educational support to younger primary school age children. Proposing a motion in the Assembly, the UIster Unionist MLA highlighted the success of this model in detecting and addressing problems which children may experience in the early stages of their education. In the Northern Trust area, there are currently 4 Multiagency Support Teams for Schools (MASTS) who are made up of health and education experts in the fields of speech, language, behavioural , physiotherapy and clinical psychology therapies.
