Beggs Supports Prostate Cancer UK Checklist

RBUlster Unionist representative Roy Beggs MLA has endorsed a prostate cancer checklist during a speech that he gave in his role as a member of the Health Committee at the “Quality Checklist: Your Standards of Care Prostate Cancer UK” event at Stormont.

East Antrim representative Roy Beggs MLA said “Prostate Cancer is the most common form of cancer in men in the United Kingdom. In Northern Ireland, round 1000 men are diagnosed each year with around 200 deaths. The Northern Trust area is the area with the highest rates of the cancer and I believe that providing men with the prostate cancer checklist will better educate and inform men of the symptoms and what can be done to help them.  At the awareness event, I also highlighted the concerning fact that there is no specialist urology nurse in the Northern Trust area.  This needs to be addressed.”
