Commenting on the official opening of the widened A2 between Carrickfergus and Belfast, Roy Beggs MLA said;
“The widen of the A2 at Greenisland has been a remarkable feat given that engineers have successfully widen this route with over 35,000 vehicles a day with relatively minimal disruption to road users. All those involved from the construction company, Grahams and Transport NI engineers must be congratulated that the project, which has improved road access to and from Carrickfergus and Greenisland, has been delivered safely.
Following adjustments to the light sequencing, the commuter’s experience has been greatly improved. With the improved transport route the Carrickfergus area will become an even more attractive location to live in and for businesses to locate.”
