Roy Beggs condemns attacks on Alliance Party Offices and Police

Roy Beggs MLA has condemned the attack on the Alliance Party Offices and Police in Carrickfergus. The Ulster Unionist East Antrim MLA said, “There can be no excuse for this arson attack and for the attack on the Police using bottles and stones whilst they were trying to prevent criminal activity and trying to uphold law and order.’ “Most local people who gathered sought to peacefully protest against the decision to remove the Union Flag from Belfast City Hall. I would urge an end to this lawlessness by the few. Such criminality does nothing for the Union. People need to engage in constructive action to strengthen the union, not destructive, illegal actions that weaken it. As my Party Leader said “what unionism needs today is brains, not brawn.”’

New Road Safety Measures at Glenoe

Local Ulster Unionist MLA Roy Beggs Jnr has welcomed the introduction of high friction surfacing at a bad bend on the Ballywillan road in Glenoe. This popular B class road between Larne and Carrickfergus is colloquially known a s the ‘Seven Sisters’ . Contractors working for DRD Roads Service have been applying the rumble safety surface this week. This follows correspondence and a meeting on site last Autumn arranged by the Ulster Unionist Party office and attended by Roads Service and police personnel Roy Beggs MLA said: “The Ballywillan Road or the Seven Sisters as it is commonly known, has had quite a lot of safety measures introduced over recent years: warning signs and chevrons on bend approaches, and the full resurfacing of the road itself.
