Beggs Welcomes “Awards for All” funding

East Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman Roy Beggs has welcomed news that 4 projects in his constituency has received project funding. Mr Beggs MLA said “It is welcome news hat 4 organisations in my area have successfully received funding through the Awards for All scheme. Hollybank PS in Monkstown will receive £10,000 to install an outdoor agility course. Barn United FC in Carrickfergus will also receive £7,172 to upgrade their clubhouse and Carrickfergus Model PS have also been awarded £10,000 to purchase a timber shelter to be used as a student council chamber. St Macnissi Choral and Dramatic Society in Larne will also receive £5,320 to run a 2 week performance skills summer school.” The Awards for All scheme funds projects helping people to get involved in their communities. It encourages people to come together to enjoy a wide range of charitable, community, educational, environmental and health-related activities.

Beggs Welcomes Progress at Greenisland House

Roy Beggs MLA has welcomed the building progress at the new Choice Housing Greenisland House supportive housing scheme. Roy Beggs MLA said “Having lobbied for investment in supportive housing in the Carrickfergus area, I was pleased to visit the Choice House development at Greenisland House to view the progress in recent months.” Following the closure of Greenisland House Residential Care Home, Roy Beggs MLA had lobbied for capital investment to provide much needed additional supportive housing for the area. “With the building now weather tight, the supportive housing development would appear to be well on schedule for its official opening next spring. Beggs Questions Agriculture Minister on Challenges Posed by use of Barnett Formula for Basic payment Scheme

East Antrim Ulster Unionist Assembly member Roy Beggs MLA has raised the issue of the potential use of the Barnett Formula as a means of distributing agricultural funding once the UK leaves the EU. Mr Beggs MLA asked the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs for “her assessment of the challenges posed by Her Majesty’s Government using the Barnett Formula as a basis for distributing the Basic Payment Scheme, after the United Kingdom exits the European Union.” In response to the East Antrim MLA, the Minister said “UK CAP expenditure has been distributed to UK regions on the basis of the proportion of subsidies received by each region under the coupled payment regime which existed prior to 2004. Beggs presses for North Road resurfacing

Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman Roy Beggs MLA has contacted the Infrastructure Minister to press the fact that resurfacing is required at the North Road, Carrickfergus, following recent utility work in the area. Mr Beggs MLA asked “The Minister for Infrastructure to outline when the North Road, Carrickfergus will be resurfaced, given its current uneven surfacing and the daily volume of traffic?” The Minister responded stating “I can advise that my Department has no immediate plans to resurface the North Road in Carrickfergus. The road surface is uneven due to the high number of utility reinstatements, however, its structural condition would not currently merit inclusion on our resurfacing programme.
