New Sci Fi Movie to be filmed At Carrickfergus Castle

Ulster Unionist MLA Roy Beggs has said he hopes news that a new science fiction movie will be filmed at Carrickfergus Castle will act as a spur for attracting more tourists to the Castle and to East Antrim in general. A new science fiction-based movie produced by Mark Huffam, called ‘Our Robot Overlords’ will be filmed at Carrickfergus Castle. ‘Game of Thrones’ continues has been filmed at several East Antrim locations including Mageramorne and Cairncastle. Beggs urges consumers to shop around following Power NI 18% electricity price hike

Roy Beggs, Ulster Unionist MLA, has urged electricity users to send a message to Power NI by considering alternative suppliers, following their announcement of an 18% increase in electricity prices. Roy Beggs MLA said, ‘The increase of 18% in electricity charges by Power NI, will have come as a major blow to many struggling consumers. It is time that consumers consider other suppliers as Power NI, who supply 80% of NI consumers are continuing to maximise their profits, restricted only by the tariff limit set by the utility regulator. I would urge all electricity users to look for savings by consider the charges of the different electricity suppliers. The Consumer Council provides a price comparison table and also good independent advice on switching suppliers. It is now easier than ever to switch suppliers. Beggs comments on latest unemployment figures

Ulster Unionist Party MLA Roy Beggs Jnr has commented on the latest unemployment figures which have just been released. They show that over the latest twelve month period there were a total of 4,311 proposed redundancies, an increase of 86% from the previous year (2,315). Currently there are 1,839 outstanding redundancies (that is, proposed but not confirmed), which is 141% higher than this time last year (762). East Antrim MLA Mr Beggs said: “For the month of October, more people (85) were made redundant in East Antrim that in any other constituency in Northern Ireland. Call for More Invest NI Action in East Antrim

Ulster Unionist MLA Roy Beggs Jnr has challenged the Department for Enterprise, Trade and investment and it’s business support unit- Invest N-I to re double their efforts in his East Antrim constituency, in the wake of the major job cuts at Engineering firm FG Wilsons. Speaking during a debate on Unemployment in the Assembly Mr Beggs highlighted the growing concern at increasing unemployment rates over the past 3 years, particularly amongst the young . He stated, “23•5% of our young people aged 18 to 24 are unemployed. Worryingly, that rate has shown a very significant increase of 5•2% over the period. So action is clearly needed in that area.” “A contract for youth has commenced elsewhere in the United Kingdom… we want a more effective system to be developed here.
