Public Transport to Follow Opening of Larne West Road Link

Local Ulster Unionist representatives Roy Beggs Jnr MLA and Larne Mayor Maureen Morrow have viewed the substantial roads works which have been carried in the Lindara development off the Linn road in Larne West. The latest phase will see the main link road between the major housing developments of Walnut Hollow and Lindara finally opened up to through traffic and public transport. Commenting Roy Beggs MLA said: “The removal of the large pile of soil and rubble on the main link road between Lindara and Walnut Hollow is a sign that progress is finally being made in completing the work which was left undone when the developer Eassda went bust. Roy Thanks Emergency Responders to Severe Weather in East Antrim

Roy Beggs MLA, who has lobbied on behalf of constituents isolated by huge snow drifts, without electricity and without water, has praised the efforts of NI Water, NIE and the Roads Service staff but indicated that efforts needed to continue. Roy Beggs, Ulster Unionist MLA for East Antrim, said,“The extreme March weather has caused huge disruption to our roads, and the electricity and water supply to many. The Roads Service snow ploughs operators, local farmers and contractors have made most roads passable with care and must be thanked for their huge effort to date. I have nothing but admiration for the efforts of the NIE and NI Water engineers who braved the harsh conditions to return power and water to many homes and businesses. Good News at Last for Lindara Residents after Minister’s Visit

Ulster Unionist Minister for Regional Development Danny Kennedy was in Larne on Wednesday afternoon with officials from the Roads Sservice and NI Water to see for himself the unfinished Lindara development. Lindara has the largest value of outstanding roads bonds (£795,260) activated by the Department for Regional Development, in the whole of Northern Ireland. The Minister was shown around the development by a delegation of Ulster Unionist Party representatives led by Roy Beggs MLA and accompanied by Cllr Maureen Morrow and Ald Roy Beggs Snr. Roy Beggs MLA commented: “The issue of the unfinished groundwork at Lindara has been a pressing issue for local residents even well before the developer Eassda Holdings went into administration in 2009. Investigation into Millbay Sewage Flooding Complete

Ulster Unionist MLA for East Antrim Roy Beggs Jnr has said progress has been made in finding a solution to the problems with the newly installed mains sewerage system at Millbay, Islandmagee. The local representative was speaking after a presentation was made to local residents and Environmental Health Officers by consultants URS who have just concluded a 9 month investigation on behalf of Northern Ireland Water. Mr Beggs said: “Problems with flooding and pollution from domestic sewage predate the installation of first time mains sewerage at Millbay over 5 years ago. However it has been a source of immense frustration to local people that there has been a catalogue of issues with the new system and the Sewage Pumping Station which pumps the Millbay sewage up to Mulloughbuoy for secondary treatment and coastal discharge.
