Roy Calls for Early Introduction of Bus Route In Larne West Suburbs

Ulster Unionist Party MLA for East Antrim Roy Beggs Jnr has welcomed completion of the third stage of the roads infrastructure linking Lindara and Walnut Hollow in Larne West, and has said he looks forward to the early introduction of public transport into the area. Mr Beggs commented: “It has been a source of massive frustration for residents living in these private developments in Larne West, but finally the roads and pavements covered by the Roads Bonds for Lindara have been finished, and the surfacing of the main spine road running through Lindara connecting to Blackthorn Hollow and in turn on to Killyglen Road has been completed. Christmas Car Parking Promotion a Boost for local Town Centres

Roy Beggs MLA has welcomed Danny Kennedy MLA, the Roads Minister’s decision to introduce a Christmas special offer of “five hours for one pound” over the busiest Christmas period for car parks in Carrickfergus and Larne that have a tariff of 30p or more per hour. The Ulster Unionist MLA said “I welcome this reduced car parking charge over the busy Christmas period.  It should encourage more shoppers to come into Carrickfergus and Larne and to shop locally over the Christmas period.  This is a vital time for local businesses.  I hope that this decision will help our town centre traders and support the vital role they and our town centres play in the local community.”

Public Transport to Follow Opening of Larne West Road Link

Local Ulster Unionist representatives Roy Beggs Jnr MLA and Larne Mayor Maureen Morrow have viewed the substantial roads works which have been carried in the Lindara development off the Linn road in Larne West. The latest phase will see the main link road between the major housing developments of Walnut Hollow and Lindara finally opened up to through traffic and public transport. Commenting Roy Beggs MLA said: “The removal of the large pile of soil and rubble on the main link road between Lindara and Walnut Hollow is a sign that progress is finally being made in completing the work which was left undone when the developer Eassda went bust. Beggs Welcomes Start of A2 Road Widening Scheme

Ulster Unionist MLA for East Antrim, Roy Beggs, has welcomed the long awaited start of works on the A2 road widening scheme at Greenisland. The MLA attended the official sod cutting event with DRD Minister Danny Kennedy and local UUP Councillors Beryl McKnight and Andrew Wilson. Roy Beggs MLA said “The need for the A2 widening at Greenisland has been apparent for decades. Having highlighted the issue during the Belfast Metropolitan Area Planning process, I was pleased that the bottleneck was recognised as one of the top 5 priorities within the entire greater Belfast area. “Whilst on the DRD Committee I highlighted to other members the fact that the average speed on the A2 at peak periods, is under 10 mph and one of the most congested roads in Northern Ireland. Roy Thanks Emergency Responders to Severe Weather in East Antrim

Roy Beggs MLA, who has lobbied on behalf of constituents isolated by huge snow drifts, without electricity and without water, has praised the efforts of NI Water, NIE and the Roads Service staff but indicated that efforts needed to continue. Roy Beggs, Ulster Unionist MLA for East Antrim, said,“The extreme March weather has caused huge disruption to our roads, and the electricity and water supply to many. The Roads Service snow ploughs operators, local farmers and contractors have made most roads passable with care and must be thanked for their huge effort to date. I have nothing but admiration for the efforts of the NIE and NI Water engineers who braved the harsh conditions to return power and water to many homes and businesses.
