Carrick and Larne disorder ‘taking police from other priorities’

Police are seeking the community’s support in finding a long-term solution to anti-social behaviour by young people in Larne and Carrickfergus. It follows incidents on Saturday (March 9), involving more than 40 teenagers, in which homes and cars came under attack in the Hillview area of Carrickfergus. A bus shelter and fencing on the B90 were smashed, where youths were also seen running in front of passing cars. On the same night, youths were seen jumping from boat to boat and alcohol was stolen from vessels at Carrickfergus Marina. The PSNI stated: “The weekend past saw Carrick bearing the brunt but we know Larne has seen the problem too. Beggs Welcomes Inaugural Larne ROC Conversation

East Antrim Ulster Unionist MLA Roy Beggs has welcomed the inaugural ‘Redeeming Our Communities’ ROC Conversation’ in Larne, which took place on Tuesday May 28, at Larne High School. Mr Beggs said “I met ROC and their local worker Keeva Watson, at Stormont, last year and received an update on how a ROC community conversation could help to simulate positive community action. I then suggested bringing Redeeming Our Communities to the East Antrim area. I had a number of meetings with ROC and I am delighted that the successful meeting in Carrickfergus Town Hall has now been followed up with a positive, well attended ROC conversation at Larne High School.” ROC is a national faith-based community engagement charity meeting a range of social needs across the UK. Beggs condemns Larne sledgehammer attack

Ulster Unionist MLA Roy Beggs has condemned those responsible for an attack on a home at Moyle Parade, in Larne, during the early hours of this morning. The incident occurred shortly after midnight.
