Beggs Welcomes Abbey Community College Pre Planning Consultation

East Antrim UUP MLA Roy Beggs has welcomed news that a pre-planning consultation is to take place on the development of a new build school for Abbey Community College on an adjacent site.

Roy Beggs MLA said “A new build site for Abbey Community College is long overdue following the amalgamation of Newtownabbey Community High and Monkstown Community School in 2015. I supported the amalgamation 6 years ago, with the proviso that any new school would receive significant development to cater for so many students on the one site. A new build school will benefit the pupils learning experience and assist teachers in enabling more young people to reach their full potential. By developing on a sizeable adjacent site, disruption to pupils will be minimised during construction I look forward to learning more about the proposed development and supporting in principle this long over due planning application, To view the proposed plans for yourself, check out http://abbeycollegeconsultation.com/ ”
