Beggs Welcomes Commitment to Provide a Puffin Crossing at St Brides Street

East Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman Roy Beggs has welcomed assurances provided to him by DfI Roads that the traffic section intend to upgrade the existing zebra crossing to a Puffin Crossing at St Brides Street, Carrickfergus.

Roy Beggs MLA said “I have been in contact with DfI Roads for some time to lobby for enhanced road safety measures at the existing zebra crossing on St Brides Street near the Carrickfergus train station. In addition to this, I had also pressed for a new high friction surfacing to be laid as the current surfacing had worn away. I am pleased that Road Service advise me that their traffic section intend to upgrade the existing zebra crossing at St Brides Street to a Puffin Crossing. I have been told that this work has been programmed to commence during the summer months and is to include high friction surfacing which will enhance road safety in the area.”
