Beggs Questions Ulster Bank Top Brass

Ulster Unionist MLA Roy Beggs Jnr took the opportunity this morning to question Ulster Bank senior managers at a Stormont committee meeting. East Antrim MLA and Finance committee member Roy Beggs MLA said: “It appears that finally a significant amount of effort is being expended by Ulster Bank and RBS management in trying to resolve this issue and providing additional information to customers through the additional 100 staff that have been drafted in to support local customers. Loyalists erect flags outside Catholic primary school and church in Carrick

UDA and UVF flags have been put up outside St Nicholas’ Church and primary school in Carrickfergus. The provocative move, which has angered unionists and nationalists, comes after serious rioting erupted in the Co Antrim town last year when police removed Union and paramilitary flags from outside a Catholic church in nearby Ballyclare. At that time Carrickfergus bore the brunt of the violence. Six police officers were injured after a hijacked bus was used to ram their vehicle. Progress on Government Plan to tackle Mobile Phone Blackspots on Coast Road

East Antrim UUP MLA Roy Beggs has welcomed clarification from the Minister for Culture, Communication & Creative Industries regarding the implications of the Chancellor of the Exchequer budget statement regarding improving mobile coverage along the A2 Coast Road. Roy Beggs MLA said ‘I welcome confirmation from Ed Vaizey MP Minister for Culture, Communication & Creative Industries that the Antrim Coast Road which forms part of the A2 will receive central government investment to upgrade mobile coverage to eliminate as many black spots as possible. Tourism becoming increasingly important and more and more visitors are utilizing smart phone technology and even locally developed apps to enhance the visitor’s experience. This investment in the A2 will enhance the tourism product and hopefully assist in encouraging more visitor nights and money spent in local restaurants and other local facilities. More than 160 jobs to go at FG Wilson

The company, based in Larne and Belfast, specialise in making diesel and gas generator sets, said the announcement was part of plans to keep its business competitive. The company said it will restructure the business beginning with a two-month evaluation of its salaried and management team, which could add up to another 100 job losses.
