‘Numerous reports of untaxed vehicles around Mid and East Antrim’

Police say they have received numerous reports of vehicles without tax or MOT around Mid and East Antrim. It follows a PSNI operation, in partnership with DVA, on Tuesday of last week to remove a number of untaxed vehicles from public areas in Carrickfergus. Carrickfergus PSNI stated: “Since then we have been received numerous reports of other vehicles with no Tax or MOT that are parked up around Mid and East Antrim. “This link is the easiest way to report such vehicles: https://www.gov.uk/report-untaxed-vehicle” Commenting on the Carrick operation, East Antrim MLA Roy Beggs said: “Having met with PSNI, NIHE and lobbied council, I’m pleased that untaxed and uninsured vehicles have now been removed.” Parliamentary reports show first speaker only – follow this lnk for the full transcription. Some NI hospital waiting lists longer than in England

The scale of Northern Ireland’s hospital waiting lists crisis can today be revealed – as the situation continues to worsen without a devolved or direct rule minister in charge. NHS statistics show that the number of patients enduring lengthy waits for some surgical procedures in Northern Ireland was far higher than in England this year – despite Northern Ireland’s population being less than 4% of England’s. More than 10,000 patients were on the list for over a year for non-urgent procedures, according to statistics researched by Ulster Unionist health spokesman Roy Beggs. The equivalent in England was fewer than 4,000 people. If waiting lists in Northern Ireland were pro rata at the same level as England, we would have just 118 people waiting for more than a year. NI patients face longer waits for surgery than in England

By Michael McHugh September 24 2018 The number of patients enduring lengthy waits for some surgical procedures in Northern Ireland was higher than in England this year. More than 10,000 people were on the list for over a year for non-urgent procedures. The equivalent in England was fewer than 4,000 people, statistics revealed. The procedures are categorised as routine and can involve anything from removal of kidney stones to hip replacements. A growing older population and increased demand for services was partly responsible, health service managers said. Doctors said there was a severe shortage of healthcare staff and described efforts to deal with the problem as “sticking plasters”. The Health and Social Care Board said £30m in additional funding was made available this year. The waiting list statistics were obtained by Ulster Unionist health spokesman Roy Beggs.
