Beggs condemns those behind Millbrook attack

East Antrim Ulster Unionist Party MLA Roy Beggs has condemned those behind an attack which damaged property and two vehicles in Millbrook, Larne. Roy Beggs MLA said “Whoever was responsible for the attack in the early hours of Sunday morning is to be condemned for their reckless actions. If you have any information that would help the PSNI with their investigations into this attack, I would urge you to call 101 quoting reference 369 24.3.19. Alternatively you can call the anonymous Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.”

Beggs condemns ‘lawless activity’ after attacks

Ulster Unionist MLA Roy Beggs has condemned an assault in Larne’s Craigyhill estate which resulted in a broken leg and an arson attack on a car on the Coast Road, Ballygally. In a statement, Mr. Beggs said: “These two severe incidents could have been even more serious. The gang attack in Craigyhill resulted in their victim jumping from an upstairs window as he feared for his life and he sustained a broken leg. “The arson attack on a car resulted in flames spreading to the adjacent home and could easily have spread to other property. When arson occurs, it is difficult to know how far the flames will spread. “Thankfully no injuries or fatalities have been reported and the fire didn’t spread to other neighbouring property which was evacuated. “I would urge the public to co-operate with the PSNI and pass any information which may be useful on directly to … Continue reading

Paper review: Eddie Girvan killer’s ‘lenient sentence’

Henderson-McCarroll pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Mr Girvan, 67, in his Greenisland home, on the grounds of diminished responsibility. The 31-year-old, who has 100 previous convictions, was told on Monday she must serve three years in prison. The papers report on criticism that the sentence is simply not enough. “Too lenient,” reports the Belfast Telegraph, “does not fit crime”, says The Irish News and “shock,” says the News Letter. The News Letter quotes UUP MLA Roy Beggs who said he did not feel a “sufficient sentence” had been handed down, considering Henderson-McCarroll’s history. Beggs express sympathy with family of A8 car crash victim

East Antrim Ulster Unionist Assemblyman Roy Beggs has expressed his sympathy and condolences with the family of the victim of a car crash on the A8 at Ballynure on Saturday morning. Roy Beggs MLA said “I was shocked and saddened to learn of the death on Saturday as a result of the collision on the A8 dual carriageway near Ballynure.
