The recovery of little Grace Jordan from a form of meningitis that almost ended her life is astounding.

She was gravely-ill and faced the amputation of fingers and a leg at one stage. Her restoration to good health is due to the expertise of the medical staff at Belfast’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children and the faith which sustained her parents during the ordeal.

We often take the work of hospitals for granted, but like Grace’s parents, we should give thanks more often for their efforts to sustain life.

The couple are holding a fundraising day for the hospital this weekend and it is a cause which should be generously supported.
